Virus scan stops in Norton product

Virus scan stops before reaching 100 percent in my Norton product

The newest updates of Norton product can fixed this problem. Run LiveUpdate till you find no more available updates available, to get the latest updates
If you are continuously facing this problem, look for newer video adapter drivers and update all them in your computer. Uninstall any of the third-party security products which may clash with the virus scan. If still the issue continue to occur then it is because of virus infection.

STEP A
Run LiveUpdate

1. Start the Norton product.
2. Do the following,depending on the Norton product, :

  • For Norton Internet Security or Norton AntiVirus : click LiveUpdate, in the window
  • For Norton 360: Click Tasks, & then afterwards click Run LiveUpdate in the main window

3. Click OK or Close., when Norton LiveUpdate is finished
4. Until you don’t look at the message, “Your Norton product now has the latest protection updates”, Run LiveUpdate
5. Exit all your open programs & restart your computer.

STEP B
Updatation of video adapter driver

1. open the Run dialog box for that you have to press the Windows + R keys.
2. Type devmgmt.msc , & after that press Enter.
3. To find the manufacturer of the display adapter, Double-click Display Adapters
4. Right-click on the name of the display adapter & then select the Update Driver Software.
5. In the Update Device Software page, click Search automatically to update the driver software.
6. Click Close.
7. Then start virus scan.
Go to the Step C If you still facing the same problem

STEP C
Uninstall any non-Symantec security product
You can read the product documentation instructions to remove a non-Symantec security product from your computer.

1. open the Run dialog box for that you have to press the Windows + R keys.
2. Type dappwiz.cpl , & after that press Enter.
3. In the list of currently installed programs, select the non-Symantec security product, & then click Uninstall or Remove.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen
5. Restart the computer, when you done with the uninstall process
6. Then start virus scan.
Go to the Step D to do the virus scan with Norton Power Eraser, If you still facing the same problem.

STEP D
Download Norton Power Eraser and then run it

1. Download the Norton Power Eraser.
2. Click Save.
3. Before clicking on the save,Choose the location as the Desktop.
4. To made Norton Power Eraser run, double click on the NPE.exe file.
Click Yes or Continue.,if the User Account Control window prompts,
5. Carefully Read the license agreements, and then click Accept.
6. Click on the Scan for Risks icon, in the Norton Power Eraser window,
7. By default, Norton Power Eraser performs a scan for rootkit and requires the system to restart. Click Restart, when you see a option on your screen to restart the computer. Go to Settings, and uncheck the option Include Rootkit scan (Requires a system restart), if you do not want to include the Rootkit scan.
8. The scan will start automatically, after the computer is restarted, you just have to Follow instructions on the screen.
9. To check that the problem has fixed or not run a virus scan with your Norton product.
